Wendy Moore mentions that while some illnesses once dismissed as hysteria are now treated as physical illnesses, such as epilepsy, “equally debilitating and inexplicable symptoms persist, in CFS for example, that fail to fit our current medical model or cultural norms, still stigmatizing sufferers and confounding doctors.”
