Today is the deadline for responding to the Government’s Green Paper, Shaping the Future of Care Together. It sets out proposals for a National Care Service for adults in England.
Action for M.E.’s consultation response has now been submitted. It was informed by a survey of 281 people.
Our report identifies the key issues which the Green Paper raises for people with M.E. and calls on the Government to:
- commit to keeping the current disability benefits in place especially for people with fluctuating conditions including M.E., who are already a vulnerable and neglected group
- follow our recommendations for improvements to current social care services
- ensure that disability benefits and social care are offered to all those who need it.
The Government will draw on the data submitted to produce a White Paper in 2010.
Action for M.E. will be tracking the progress of any developments and will be ready to respond.
